This was an automated reply from the chat bot. I don't have an error code yet as I have refiled in hopes of not getting rejected again. It has been rejected twice already. Is there some way I can find the previous error code or is there another way to check the current rejection status and/or status of my refund?

I’m having an issue reconciling where to fill in my partners deduction for no tax on tips in the community property allocations for RDP living in California federal filing. Please do not discuss state filing in this thread or married filing jointly or separately. This is a complex issue that has no clear answer.

@ jjjohn151 wrote: I can't find my ip pin For tax year 2025 IP PINs operate on a calendar year basis. Since this is a new calendar year, you have to have a new IP PIN to file your current 2025 return. The new IP PIN is to be used for all tax returns filed during calendar year 2026, which includes the current 2025 tax return that people are filing. The IP PIN from the IRS can come in 2 ways. Some people would have received a CP01A letter last month with their new IP PIN for this year. People who opted-in voluntarily to the IP PIN program normally don't get it in letters but can retrieve their new IP PIN from their online IRS account, where it should be displayed under one of the tabs there. If you received a letter a few weeks ago with the IP PIN, but now can't find it, you should also be able to retrieve it online in your IRS account. See this IRS article for more info: Retrieve an IP PIN https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/retrieve-your-ip-pin

You will need to provide the rejection error code in order for people in the forum to know what you are experiencing. This is a public Internet forum, so don't post any personal information.

@ debraduddy3 asked: "I need to amend my tax return that's been accepted when will I be able to do so" Technically not until February 18 or 19 when TurboTax opens up amending. That's the projected date when Form 1040-X will become available. In Online TurboTax it will update automatically on the 18th or 19th. In desktop software it may be in the routine weekly update that occurs early Thursday morning on the 19th that week. But in any case it's recommended to wait to amend your Federal return until the IRS has finished processing it, and you have first received any Federal refund from the original submission. So in the meantime, do not make any changes in your originally filed return. When amending, it has to start off exactly like it was when originally filed.

see this TurboTax expert response
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/2025-tax-reporting-for-gld-etf-options/00/3538830
and here'ss a different viewpoint (older than above)
The IRS hasn’t clearly stated the tax treatment of sales of options based on ETFs. Writer's position is that options on securities ETFs that are organized as RICs are treated as securities and options on commodities ETFs structured as PTP are Section 1256 contracts. Tax treatment of options on precious metals ETFs is unclear; some tax professionals make a case for Section 1256 treatment as a non-equity option.
That's the issue, the IRS has not clarified whether these options are or are not 1256 contracts. Some brokers report them as 1256 contracts, while others, like yours, do not.
and here's another negative, even older
https://www.cxoadvisory.com/equity-options/are-etf-options-section-1256-contracts/
You can ask your broker if it will change the reporting. If not, your options are to accept that reporting or report as 1256 by zeroing out gain/loss on the 8949 (you have to keep it there because of the broker's reporting to the IRS) and enter on 6781. see instructions for Form 8949, probably type T.
if you go the 1256 route, you may want to disclose that you're taking a position contrary to the 1099-B reporting. This might protect you from certain penalties if the IRS were to conclude that they are not 1256 contracts.

Despite the fact that it is unnecessary to file Form 1099-Q, TurboTax nevertheless invites the User to an interview regarding it, and then incorrectly leads to the conclusion that distributions are TAXABLE (when they are NOT). This happened to me despite answering all questions correctly, and starting over fresh and trying again several times. I pay my college student's qualified expenses, and then collect reimbursement from the 529 which I oversee. The only way I can get TurboTax to back off of this erroneous conclusion is if I check the box that indicates that she received the distribution (she does not receive the distribution). Another example of how poorly crafted the interview for 1099-Q is, is for the question Turbo Tax asks about Box #6 of the 1099-Q. The wording goes like this: "Is the recipient of the distribution the designated beneficiary? Recipient is not designated beneficiary". Notice that the question (i.e., the words ending with a question-mark) does not have a "not" in it, and is then followed by additional words for some bonus confusion. However, the wording on the standard 1099-Q does indeed have a "not" in the wording for Box #6 as follows: "Check if the recipient is not the designated beneficiary". So, how to best answer the question posed by Turbo Tax? Do we assume we know the intent, or do we follow instinct, or do we flip a coin? Or, does it even matter, because either a "Yes" or a "No" for this question does not change Turbo Tax's conclusion that I now owe about $12,000 more than what I really owe.

This forum has no access to your return. Perhaps you don't owe the penalty.
There will be no federal penalties for not prepaying enough taxes if withholding and
timely estimated tax payments equal or exceed 90% of your 2025 tax or
timely estimated tax payments equal or exceed 100% of your 2024 tax (110% if your 2024 adjusted gross income was more than $150K) or
the balance due after subtracting taxes withheld from 90% of your 2025 tax is less than $1,000 or
your total taxes are less than $1,000
in the form 2210, if you check that the IRS should calculate your penalty, TurboTax will not compute any.

I posted a picture of what exactly is happening. I just tried to efile it again five times and every single time I keep getting that same error which shows in the picture that I uploaded here. I've tried several browsers, Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. It doesn't make any difference. Any help would be appreciated because I don't want to mail my amended return because the IRS has terminated so many employees.
