You can no longer use TurboTax Online to file for 2024. TurboTax Online is only for the current tax year, which is now 2025. To file for 2024 you have to use the desktop TurboTax software for 2024. You can purchase a download at the following link.
Past Years' Products
The desktop TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook.
Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your 2024 tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. When you file by mail you have to attach copies of your W-2s and any W-2G or 1099-R that has tax withheld. We suggest that you mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Mail your federal and state tax returns in separate envelopes, because they go to different places. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.

You cannot enter TN in W-2 box 15 because Tennessee has no state income tax. Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 empty.

Hello All Does any one see an issue where after entering/importing the W2 and when I hit the "Done with income" button the program crashes After I am done entering income when I click the above button "Done with income", I can't go anywhere and the program crashes with the below error message. Contacted the support and not at all helpful. "Run the program under Admin" which I have already tried. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and no use. I basically can't get past entering the income! Thanks for the help. Sriram

When TurboTax asks "Did you buy every investment listed on your 1099-B" click No. Then, when you get to the screen where you enter the details of the sale, below the box that says "What type of investment did you sell?" there will be a box that says "How did you receive this investment?" Click on that box and select "I inherited it." The box for entering box 1b will then disappear.
TurboTax will not allow you to You cannot enter the word "Inherited" in box 1b.

Are both adaptive and mobility medical items deductible as medical expenses? We do not qualify to use an FSA, so when things come up, we just pay. :(. Specifically, can we deduct things like a wheelchair for a handicapped person, a walker, a bed railing, etc.? Thank you in advance for your replies. We always itemize our returns.

These are noncovered shares. A copy of this form is being provided to the IRS, but because box 1e is blank, the cost basis is not being reported to the IRS by the payer. The shares received a step-up in basis, so the cost basis is the date-of-death value of the shares. Enter "Inherited" in box 1b as the Date Acquired.

It is ridiculous, but you can thank the current administration for the SNAFU.

I was awarded 50% of the home sale in the divorce. So does this mean that I also will be eligible for $250k deduction for capital gains? I lived in the house for 25 years, up until the house was sold post divorce. With that said, should I be expecting a 1099 form in the mail for my portion of the proceeds from the home sale?

Very frustrating. I get the same email back saying form 3903 is available. Which is totally not what I'm wanting notification about.
