I am a little confused by your statement that "she was a student if she received school credit for the internship". It seems it could run contrary to the tax law that states "the school determines what is a full time student". I should also add that this is a foreign school that does not qualify for AOTC or LLC tax credits. The only credit available to us would be the $500 dependent credit.

There were a lot of complaints regarding the user interface in the 2024 desktop software, specifically with the Investments section. Does anyone know if the interface and entry capability has been improved for 2025? Also, if you click Update for a particular section, such as 1099-INT, does it now only display your 1099-INT entries, or does it still include all other 1099 entries? Did they keep the large clunky boxes, or did they restore the more streamlined look and feel from years past? @MonikaK1

It's IMPOSSIBLE you didn't know because when you signed up for Vine it required you input your Tax ID and notified you that all items received are reported as cash per their value and anything over $600 is reportable. I know because I'm part of the Vine program. Just because you ignored all of the text when you input your info and clicked through everything doesn't absolve you of the responsibility. Welcome to adulting.

If you need to prepare a return for 2024:
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2025 only. Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and 2024 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
If you need to amend your 2024 return to add a W-2:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-already-filed/L4VjJ9BA2_US_en_US?uid=m76mq6z2
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

@Bmcrae49
Casualty losses are deductible in the year you sustain the loss, which is generally in the year the casualty occurred. You have not sustained a loss if you have a reasonable prospect of recovery through a claim for reimbursement. If you have a casualty loss from a federally declared disaster that occurred in an area warranting public or individual assistance (or both), you can choose to treat the casualty loss as having occurred in the year immediately preceding the tax year in which you sustained the disaster loss, and you can deduct the loss on your return or amended return for that preceding tax year. See Revenue Procedure 2016-53 below for guidance on the time and manner of making and revoking an election under Code Section 165(i).
the election allows you to claim the loss in 2025 (rather than 2026 because that is the year the loss was "sustained" under the tax rules) by filing a return that includes the election statement.
section 3.02 of Tev Proc The election statement must contain the following information:
(1) The name or a description of the disaster and date or dates of the disaster
(2) The address, including the city, town, county, parish, State, and zip code, where the damaged or destroyed property was located at the time of the disaster
sec 3.03 of rev proc
sec 3.03 of Rev Proc: For an election made on an original federal tax return, a taxpayer must provide the information required by section 3.02 of this revenue procedure on Lines 1 or 19 (as applicable) of Form 4684 (Casualties and Thefts). A taxpayer filing an original federal tax return electronically may attach a statement as a PDF document if there is insufficient space on Lines 1 or 19 of the Form 4684 to provide the information required by section 3.02.
****************************
Turbotax does not have the provision to attach a PDF. so if the required info can not be entered thru the tax app, you'll need to mail in your return.
***************************
the rev proc also contains other provisions, like if you want to change your mind for the year you claim the loss
