@VolvoGirl @Mike9241 I called in to ask the TurboTax CS team for help in the afternoon. I was told to call back again and there might be “no info/issues” on my case. Do we have some other options? Now do I have to buy a new computer for my tax filing 2024-2025? Thanks a lot.

I would suggest consulting with a tax professional before starting a business. miss something important can result in substantial financial troubles.

yes as presented basis is $18K
not every k-1 has business interest income so in those cases 20AF is blank
the type of sale is probably an E - long-term basis not reported to the IRS - so it has no way to determine if the number is right or wrong. This is true for every taxpayer that sells a security where the tax basis is not reported to the IRS. I have had them in multiple years and have never gotten an IRS inquiry. You shouldn't either. at least not for this.

make sure you start the amended returns for these years. and yes there is no roll forward.
the way it works is that the results of an amended return only transfer to next year's original return assuming next year is started after the prior year is amended. you are going from amended to amended so nothing that changed in the prior year is transferred...
since the loss was from a passive activity that evidently was disallowed in 2022, the proper place to enter it is on the k-1 worksheet for 2023. the amount disallowed on the 8582 for 2023 is entered on the k-1 worksheet for 2024. on the 2024 k-1 worksheet indicated that this was a final k-1 with complete disposition. you'll need to know if you have any basis left.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

I just received a Form 3531 from the IRS for my mother's tax return (she passed June 2024) which I submitted using TurboTax. The Form 3531 states: "we require a power of attorney or court certificate in all instances when someone other than the taxpayer is signing the return." I am unsure what I need to do. Ant advice would be most appreciated,

Thank you for your response. It so happens we have already filed the Indian tax return for AY 2025 - 2026. We have paid tax on her government pension from US in both US and India, as it is normally handled on other investment income in US. I accidentally discovered this Article 19 - 2(a) and 2(b) and its implication on government pension very recently and asked our CA in India to examine it for a possible refund from Indian tax department before Dec 31st, 2025. Our CA in India is yet to come back to us on this.

Hi, I received free access to TurboTax Premium through Fidelity and even used it to file an extension earlier. However, now when I try to submit my tax return, TurboTax is asking me to pay for the service. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Probably okay. The phone number generally associated with identity issues is 800-830-5084.

I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY
Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request. No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund. If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.

Today, I got a 4883c letter from the IRS, dated 10/09/25, via USPS, requesting a call back to verify my identity and tax return info. Is it a legitimate letter? It has a "control number"... It is requesting I call an 800 number I wasn't able to find on the IRS website [phone number removed]). Why? I entered an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) I received from the IRS on my 2024 1040 Tax Form when I e-filed... Thanks
