What exactly are you looking at on Schedule D? There is nothing on Schedule D called "total capital gains." What line of Schedule D are you looking at? There could be gains or losses on Schedule D that do not come from Form 1099-B.
And what exactly do you mean by "the 1099 reports"? A consolidated brokerage statement might include several different kinds of 1099 forms, such as 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, 1099-OID, and 1099-MISC. They do not all go to Schedule D. Also, your 1099-B forms could include losses as well as gains.
A typical consolidated brokerage statement shows net gain or loss for each category, but each category is shown separately on Schedule D. You can't just add them all together. And Form 1099-B itself does not show gain or loss. It shows only cost and proceeds. The gain or loss is calculated on your tax return. The gain or loss shown on the brokerage statement is additional information provided by the financial institution, but technically it is not part of Form 1099-B.
You have to be precise about exactly what figures you are looking at on the brokerage statements, and what lines of Schedule D you are comparing them to.

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954.
Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line. So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead. Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment". Then press 3 "for all other questions." Then press 2 "for all other questions." - When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything. - After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions. Then press 3 for all other inquiries It should then transfer you to an agent.

I was prepared for the delay with the EIC but it’s September…I filed in early February it has remained on processing since than. I understand that a lot has been going on but I figured I would have gotten a letter or something. Even a notification on my IRS account or TurboTax account. I mean I got the refund advance and I haven’t gotten anything at all.

You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.

Don't worry about it. It should be fine. And you can't change the past now. The rules for vehicle are complex, and how much you can deduct using Section 179 or using Bonus Depreciation depend on several things, including the GVWR of the vehicle and the details of the vehicle itself (such as if it is a cargo van with a barrier between the driver and the rear, or if it is some other type of van). Because of those complexities and I don't know why kind of van you have, I can't give super-specific advice. However, it probably isn't a big deal for several reasons. There are several options involved, and which one is best depends on your very specific circumstance. Working with a good tax professional is best because they can guide you through which are the best options for your circumstances.

Q. Can I use my 529 College fund for non-credit continuing education course to complete a travel agency license, at a county community college that is a qualified educational institution.
A. Yes, since the cost is required for the enrollment or attendance of the designated beneficiary at an "eligible institution".
Enter your school at the link below, to verify that it's on the dept. of education list of eligible institutions

No, not necessary for 2025 if there is no income but you need to track your carryforward, and I don't think the software will do that for you if you skip a year.

Hi there, What type of disposal type do we select if we didn't sell any of our units during the Cedar Fair/Six Flags merger but received a 1099-B for a fractional share during the conversion. It was not a complete disposition, nor did I sell and am receiving payments, so do I check disposition was not via a sale? I tried no entry but then Turbotax unchecked my partnership description of "This partnership ended in 2024". Thank you.

Now it just gives me an error message when trying to file without adding this detail. Where can I input the detail directly into the TurboTax interface?
