Yes.  If you are married you file as Joint or Married filing separately.  Joint is the best way to file especially if one spouse doesn't work.  You will get a higher standard deduction for Joint.  Did he get unemployment or social security?  Oh and you can not claim him as a dependent.  Just file Joint.

If you efiled was it Accepted?  When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Check back though your emails and spam/junk folder. When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say? How to check your efile status https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/electronic-filing/check-e-file-status/L9XhHDPtD_US_en_US?uid=lvriwl8j If you efiled there should be an Electronic Postmark page. Probably near the end. That is your proof and signature. If you print out your return to give someone you will have to sign it in ink now.

Unfortunate to think that scum got away with everything.... A non-business bad debt could be deductible, but you have to have a real loss, not just an unpaid judgement.  In other words, if you already paid someone $15,000 out of your existing funds, and they failed to do whatever was promised in return, that can be treated as a bad debt (non-business meaning you are not in the business of being a lender).     Or to explain another way, if someone promised to pay you something that would have been taxable income to you and they don't pay, your tax "reduction" is that you don't have income so you don't pay tax, but you can't take a separate deduction.   But if you pay someone else and they don't pay you back (in money or services) then you have a deductible bad debt.  I think we didn't ask enough clarifying questions about the judgement.    You need to have a legitimate contract with them (so lending money informally to a family member who doesn't pay you back is almost never allowed); and you must have exhausted all reasonable efforts at collection.  Then, the bad debt is treated as a capital loss, you can deduct up to the amount of your capital gains this year, plus $3000, and carry forward any remaining undeducted amount to the next tax year.   Do you want to clarify the circumstances of the judgement?   https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc453

The additional deduction in the new tax law is not specifically for Social Security. It's for anyone who is 65 or older. The additional deduction is gradually reduced if MAGI is over $75,000 ($150,000 if married filing jointly) and it disappears completely if MAGI is $175,000 or more ($250,000 if married filing jointly). For this deduction, MAGI is Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), Form 1040 line 11, plus the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion and excluded income from sources in Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Since the 2023 TurboTax software can only be installed on a personal computer, Window or Mac, you would have needed to print and mail the 2023 tax return since it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.   The TurboTax 2024 software can be used with either the desktop or online editions.   There are almost two dozen different types of Form 1099, which one are you trying to enter? 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-B, 1099-R, 1099-S, 1099-K, 1099-SA, 1099-LTC, SSA-1099, 1009-C, 1099-DIV, 1099-G, etc.
What kind of 1099?  A 1099R?  There are new questions for 1099R this year.  Or what questions is it asking you?
From the information you posted he does not have to pay NJ income tax and of course Florida has no state tax.
I am inputing my own 1099 data and I'm being grilled with Turbotax questions that were never asked for 2023. Anyone else have this problem?

If you filed a 2020 return on time (that is, before May 17, 2024), and you claimed a rebate, but the rebate was never paid, then you should consider the possibility that, 1. The IRS paid a stimulus payment to you, so they removed the rebate from your refund claim. 2. The IRS included the rebate in your tax refund, but your refund was reduced for other reasons. 3. The IRS paid your refund including your rebate, but it was lost or misdirected.   Did you get your tax refund for 2020?  Then you got what you are going to get, and form 3911 will not help.  If there was a problem with your 2020 tax return, you had until 2024 to file an amended return.   Did you never get your tax refund for 2020? Is that because the IRS held it for other debts, or the check was lost in the mail, or it was deposited in the wrong bank account?  If the refund was deposited in the bank account you told them, your case is over, even if you told them the wrong number by accident.   Most of this questions should be answerable by researching your 2020 tax return and your tax account by using the Transcript service.  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript   If you never filed a tax return in 2020 (or filed it after May 17, 2024) it is too late to claim any refund for any reason.

You can't rollover a Roth 401k to a pre-tax 401k.  You could stop making contributions to a Roth 401k and start making new contribution to a pre-tax 401k, but you can't move existing funds in that way.  Regarding impact on your paycheck, it depends on your income, filing status and dependents.  A rough estimate is that if you can contribute 12% or 22% more, plus an amount for state taxes.   For example, suppose you are in the 12% income tax bracket and pay 5% tax in your state.  If you contribute $100 to a Roth 401k, it will reduce your paycheck by $100, but if you contribute $100 to a pre-tax 401k, it will reduce your paycheck by $83.  So you could increase your contribution to about $120 to reduce your paycheck by $100.
If you are referring to the stimulus payment from tax year 2020, that is not longer available from the IRS.

Exactly what do you want to transfer it to?  A Traditional pre-tax 401K or to a Traditional IRA or ROTH IRA?  And if you can transfer it there isn't a limit on the amount.  @dmertz
