Oh if the refund went through the 3rd party bank and they had to send you a check instead of Direct Deposit there was probably another fee for that like $35.

Yes the taxable amount of SS is on line 6b. They usually say they changed your return for SS but it usually is because they lowered some other income on your return. You need to check all the lines 1-10 and see what else they changed. You can log into your IRS account and should see all the changes.

"I paid for payout to be put into the bank..."
You did not pay any extra fee to have a direct deposit. If you paid a "refund processing fee" that fee was to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund instead of paying your fees upfront using a credit or debit card. There is never an extra fee for direct deposit. The refund processing fee went to the third party bank that received your refund from the IRS, extracted your TT fees to send to TT, took the $40 for itself ($45 in CA) and sent you the rest----either as a direct deposit or as a check mailed to the address on your tax return. The third party bank may have mailed a check to you if there was a problem with the direct deposit information you entered.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!! NO where does it say that you will need TWO pins! Why isn't the IP-PIN on the same page as the usual PIN. I have spent so much time trying to get these taxes filed and FINALLY, you helped me. Turbo Tax is not what it used to be......I've probably used it for 20 years and this year has been the worst. Not sure I'll get it next year. Any suggestions of others? Again, THANK YOU! and Happy Easter!

If the EIN number in box b is the same and you work in more than 1 state or city, sometimes they will give you another W2 with the extra state information on it and the top part the same or not filled in. If this is the case, list one W-2 but include both state or local taxes on it. It will let you type in more than one line for boxes 15-20. Don't add the boxes together.

No. You paid for the use of tax preparation software. And you received your income tax refund. If the IRS chose to send you a check instead of a direct deposit, that was due to a decision made by the IRS or due to you entering wrong banking information and having to receive a check instead of a direct deposit.
From the IRS:
If you got a paper check instead of direct deposit, it’s because:
The account is not under your name, your spouse's name or a joint account
Your financial institution rejected a direct deposit
You requested more than 3 electronic refunds into 1 account

Hello, I live in CT and worked a small amount in RI in 2024. I received a W2 from the employer but it has 2 pages. They have the same income amount and state tax withheld but when looking at box 15 and the "Employer's state ID no." box on the first page it nothing in box 15 and then "TOTAL STATE" written in the next box and on page 2 it says "RI" in box 15 and has numbers for their "Employer's state ID no.". I don't want it to look like I made double the income by entering it as 2 W2s but am not sure if it would be wrong to just enter it as RI income.

I bought a new MacBook Air and would like to transfer the 2024 TT installation on the current MacBook Pro to it. I came across this article which seems to be the answer but I want to confirm that this will free up a license once I uninstall it and deleted all the relevant folders, otherwise I won't be able to get the new install working without the license, yes, this is the last of the 5 available license. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/remove-reinstall-turbotax-mac/L6xLWlabw_US_en_US
