BATE AND SWITCH. Read the post... turbo tax used deceptive practices to rip people off. You are better off using an honest online service. There are plenty out there.

Nothing like having the same people employed to rip people off responding to posts. BATE AND SWITCH is the term that applies here. Trick people into clicking on planted buttons throughout the process. Then making people start all over and go thru the long process of doing their taxes AGAIN if they want the free option that was advertised for the 1040 only (FALSE ADVERTISING). There are too many other honest online tax companies out there that there is no need to use this corrupt one.

This answer assumes your 2022 return was prepared in Online TurboTax. Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account. Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary. Many people end up with more than 1 account. The pathway to download the 2022 PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2024 return. I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation. If you have not yet started a 2024 online return: Sign in to your account. What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2024 return in that account. If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2024 return in that account. If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions. Answer those preliminary questions (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option. Do not click the Documents tab. Instead, click on Tax Home. Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents". Expand that section and choose the past year you want. If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot. If you have already started or finished a 2024 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2024 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home. If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu. Do not use the Documents tab. At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents." If the past returns are not there, see the steps below. If you do all that and can't find the past return in that account, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all. To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below. When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

are these transactions presented separately in the 1099-B as 'regulated futures contracts' / Section 1256 Option Contracts etc... if so it's possible they should be reported on Form 6781 rather than Schedule D/Form 8949; in TT go to Wages & Income / I'll Choose What I work On / Investment Income - Contracts and Straddles and also check the IRS instructions for Form 6781. Not a CPA and I've only had limited experience in this form but wanted to point you in this direction; I had a few SPY spreads last year which E*Trade reported as Section 1256.

There are 7 possible reasons; you aren’t getting the Child Tax credit (CTC). It’s usually #4:
You’ve entered something wrong. In the personal Info section, for the dependent, you must select answers that indicate that he/she is your dependent child. If the child was born during the year, say he/she lived with you all year (note: TurboTax changed how this section is done two years ago, you may need to go thru the interview again or even delete your dependent and start over). If the child was with you for 6 months and 1 day, you need to mark that the child was with you 7 months. The CTC is not an automatic $2000, per child. It is income dependent. Do not check the “not valid for employment” box at the SS# entry screen. If you haven't entered your income yet, the CTC will not show.
Your child may be too old (over 16). You can still claim your child, as a dependent. What you can't claim is the Child tax credit. This comes as a big surprise to many parents the year their child turns 17. A child over age 16 no longer qualifies for the Child Tax credit (CTC). Although a child can still be a student dependent through age 23, and a qualifying child for EIC, the Child Tax Credit expires the year they turn 17 and you no longer get the $2000 CTC. Instead you will get the non-refundable (up to) $500 Other Dependent Credit.
Your income is too high. The Child Tax Credit (CTC) is phased out at higher incomes starting at $400,000 for joint filers ($200K single). You lose $50 for each $1000 (rounding up) your income is over that threshold. Previously it was $75,000 for single, head of household, and qualifying widow or widower filers; and $110,000 for joint filers.
Your income is too low. The child tax credit (CTC) is limited to your tax liability. The CTC is a non-refundable credit and can only reduce your income tax to 0, It can not help you beyond eliminating your tax liability. But, if you have more than $2500 of earned income, some or all of it is usually given back to you thru the "Additional Child tax credit". That is, part of the CTC may be on line 28 of form 1040 (2021- 2024) instead of line 19. The ACTC is calculated on form 8812 and is basically 15% of your earned income over $2500. The ACTC is a maximum of $1700 (2024) ($1600 for 2023, $1500 for 2022) per child, not $2000.
You are the custodial parent and the non-custodial parent is claiming the dependent this year. The CTC goes with the dependency, even though the custodial parent still gets the Earned Income Credit, Dependent care credit and Head of Household.
Another possibility is that part of your tax due is not regular income tax, but is self-employment tax (FICA), early distribution penalty or another type of additional tax, for which the CTC cannot be used.
During covid (2021), the child tax credit was expanded and easier to get. That was temporary and those relaxed benefit rules are no longer available.

So it's going in may and no resolution, I've sent lots of emails with no response. Intuit actually sent a check of half my 2/3 of the fees 0 and some change they still owe 40 for my fees, and I doubt I'd even cash that at this point. But that was sent to my old address and that check is now lost so I can get that anyway. I, still, getting threatening calls fro, checksmart and turbotax ghosted me pretty much this tax year has been a nightmare and I'll never use this service again now will I let my friends and family, nor do they want too after hearing my story. Turbotax if your reading this call me at [phone number removed]
