Rent paid is not deductible on nor reported on a federal tax return.  Your state may have this as a deduction or credit and the TurboTax state program will cover this if it is available.

I have only one single member LLC; the 'walk me through it' guide indicated that I would be eligible to efile it. But when I finish up, it says there's an error, brings up 568 in forms mode, and says I need to check the box at the bottom that indicates "If prompted to check this box, TurboTax cannot efile". It does not say why I can't efile -- is there a way to fix this?

The total of Capital gain is calculated at 15%. but the Dividends were used with the total of ordinary rate.   I don't know where you're seeing that, and that's the drawback of a public forum like this.  No one in the forum can see your return, so I can't comment specifically, but only in general.   As mentioned previously, I'm a fellow user--not a tax expert.   I've tried to bring one back into the conversation, but so far it hasn't worked.     It's difficult to understand each other on a bulletin board forum like this.   I'm not sure I'm understanding your concern and what you are experiencing, or even if we are talking about the same thing.    I'll tell you below how you can phone TurboTax Support.   It might be easier if you speak to someone in real time for a back and forth.   But in general, this is my understanding of how it works.   If I understand your original question correctly (at the top of this thread), you are wondering why your 1040, Line 15 (taxable income) used the Line 3b (ordinary dividends) amount instead of Line 3a (qualified dividends).  That's what Line 15 is supposed to do.  Look at the instructions printed on the Form 1040 for Line 9 (total income), which says to use the Line 3b amount when adding up the right column of the Form 1040.    Even though the qualified dividends are displayed on the Form 1040, Page 1, they are not used there; i.e., they are not taken into account on Page 1 of the Form 1040.   The qualified dividends are not considered until the QDCGT Worksheet.  It is on that QDCGT worksheet where the qualified dividends are taken into account and given preferential tax treatment if they qualify there.   That's my understanding of how it works in general.  I can't address specifically what you are experiencing, if it differs from that.   Here's how you can phone TurboTax Support.  It might be easier and more efficient to discuss your concern with them in a realtime conversation.   Support hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific, every day this time of year. JUST got off the phone with tech support with same issue.  After 2 hours on the phone, turns out the problem was that my activation code (the license code you receive when purchasing / downloading the software) had been deactivated.  The tech told me there are only 6 companies officially licensed to sell Turbotax online.  Anyone else is unofficial at best.  Luckily I was able to contact the website I got the original code from and they gave me a new one which when I plugged that one in (there's a menu option under the help menu) I was able to proceed with paying for and filing my tax return.
I have a 1099-MISC form that was inputted from brokerage. Turbo Tax keeps saying it belongs in a different category. I don't understand what to do. Any help?
Importing from specifically Fidelity Investments into the download version of TurboTax H&B is causing it close with an error notice.  Importing from Vanguard was no problem.

I can not find the online forms to refile 2022. I used H&R Block and they have been dismissive and not helpful at all.

Any times that your parents claimed the AOC, while you were their dependent count against your four allowable times.  Form 8863 would have been part of their/your filing if the AOC was claimed previously. In recent years, line 29 of form 1040 would show part of the AOC.

Did you apply your 2023 Maryland refund to your 2024 Maryland tax return?   If so, and you used TurboTax last year, that amount should already be applied to your 2024 state return.      If you did not use TurboTax and need to enter it, it gets entered in the Estimates section in the Deductions & Credits section.   Click Start or Update next to Other Income Taxes from the Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid section.   From there, scroll down to 2023 Refund Applied to 2024.   And then select Start or Update next to 2023 refund applied to 2024 state taxes.   Then enter the amount.
