Marilyn - I think the problem goes deeper than you believe because when I get to the "Here are your 2024 and 2025 deductions and credits" page, all the itemized dectionsw are listed as zeros for 2025, while I've always itemized in past years.

@Vanessa A Thank you for the detailed response and here are some facts I should have had in my first post: I'm in Texas so, no State / Local Tax, working 1.5 more years, MFJ, over-65, SSI@70, Medicare ~2029 (when IRMAA=$0). Considering selling since this is my last year taxed >32%, in 2027=24%, rest of life=12% with no RMD (my retirement income will be set up to keep me within the LTCG rate =0%). Thinking it is better to sell this year because if I ever sell in the future, I will it will likely cost me $15K-25K more in Taxes/IRMMA/>$15k LTCG in those years. NIIT passive income $50k this year, dropping each year by 10-20%. For the past 3 years been running future scenarios in my previous years' TurboTax converting all my IRA to ROTH, will do this again this year and next until all IRA is in ROTH. One last question, in January I did another Roth conversion and need to pay estimated tax before 15 April (or now?) do I do this at the 24% (like winning the lottery rate) or the >32% (this years expected tax rate)?

Thank you so much for this information. This is very straightforward to amend for my federal return, however its not clear whether this amendment (adjusting form 8606) also applies to the PA state return. When I make the adjustment during the questionnaire (enter the balance as of end of the year), it automatically updates my amount owed at the federal level, however it doesn't impact the amount for the State. Do I have to manually update anything at the state level (or does this change not effect the state), and thus I don't need to amend my PA return?

No. If your grandson can be claimed as your dependent, he is not eligible for the earned income credit (EIC).
An individual cannot claim the EIC if they are a qualifying child of another taxpayer.
Your grandson appears to meet the qualifying child tests:
Age: 18 and a full-time student (qualifies up to age 23)
Relationship: Grandchild
Residency: Lives with you
Support: Likely did not provide over half of his own support (this alone would disqualify him from claiming EIC)
Read more about the qualifications for EIC here.

If you have already received your refund and spent some of the money, you may be fine.
You would only need to return some or all of your refund if you file an amended tax return that makes a change in your overall refund amount to a lower number than what you already received.
If you were eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and it was not already included in your return for some reason, then an amended return should increase your overall refund, not decrease it. When you file an amended return, the amount that you have already received (or paid) is taken into account. When looking at the amended return, if your refund is larger, you will get an additional amount; if your refund is smaller, then you will need to pay some money back from the refund you already received.

The IRS has all current information from your amended tax return(s). The IRS does not change your transcript information after the initial return is posted. They will accept and process your amended tax return with the current information when received. See the link of IRS Transcript FAQs below.
Q8. My transcript information doesn't appear to be correct. What should I do?
In some cases, we may have changed the reported figures on the original return you filed because of input errors or incomplete or missing information. If we changed the figures on your return during processing, a tax return transcript will show your original figures, labeled "per return," and the corrected figures labeled "per computer." It won't show amendments or adjustments made to the account after the original return has posted.
Be sure to use your current address in your 2025 tax return. If you want to be double sure about your address you can uses the form shown below to mail to the IRS:
