How do I set up Quickbooks to match the expense categories in Turbo Tax for easy data sharing?

If you are using QuickBooks self employed there is a great step-by-step guide with recording found here.

QuickBooks desktop can be imported into the Turbo Tax Business software by following the instructions on this site.

Make sure you have the right product and know the steps required before you begin!

In both cases your QuickBooks accounts must be "mapped" to a line on the tax return.  Basically you will need to review all of your account categories and indicate what line they should go to in Turbo Tax.

"Prep for taxes automatically assigns most accounts to tax lines. Any unassigned accounts appear in the “We found unmapped accounts” section. Simply select Assign tax line and move them to the correct tax line."
