I owe $0.00 to the IRS and they took my whole tax refund.

I haven’t received a tax refund in years. Years prior  owed by this 2023 tax season i logged into my IRS account and i owed $0.00. I was very excited, filed my tax return, paid turbotax, and my entire refund was deducted and used to pay my “IRS bill”. I don’t have a bill so i’m upset and concerned as to where my refund went.

See if your refund was offset for another reason.

The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.   

The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
