Disability SSI and early retirement SSI

I am in the middle of a disability appeal and a new disability appeal and applying for early retirement at 62. How will this affect my taxes going forward?  I am supposed to apply for SSI in July (I turned 62 in June) but I still have two cases pending. How will these three things play out for tax purposes and benefits?

Disability SSI and early retirement SSI

First----let's clear up that there is a big difference between receiving Social Security benefits and "SSI"----we see people refer to "SSI" a lot when they really mean Social Security or Social Security Disability.

SSI is not reported on any sort of tax document at tax time and does not get entered on a tax return.  SSI is not taxable.

Social Security benefits or Social Security Disability is reported on a 1099SSA at tax time and may get entered on a tax return.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS AND SSI?

All of that being said, if you start receiving Social Security benefits of any kind, at tax time you will get a SSA1099.   If you are also receiving some other sort of disability benefits, those might be on a W-2 or on a 1099.
