Yes, here is where you will enter the $5000 exemption for the US-China Tax Treaty exemption.

  1. Go to Federal > Wages & Income.
  2. Scroll to the very bottom to Less Common Income.
  3. Click Start/Revisit next to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C.
  4. Select Other reportable income (the last option).
  5. Select Yes when asked "Any other reportable income?"
  6. Description: Enter U.S.-China Tax Treaty, Article 20(c)
  7. Amount: Enter -5000 (be sure to include the minus sign).

Hi Dave,

It won't let me e-file, because i put the -5000 in as you suggested. Any way to fix this? Last year it was fine.

On the Wages & Income topics page, scroll all the way down to 'Other Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C'.  On the next page, scroll all the way down to 'Other Reportable Income'.

Choose yes, and you'll a screen to enter Description and Amount.  Continue, and the next screen shows your entry in the 'Miscellaneous Income Summary'.

You'll see the adjusting entry on Schedule 1, Line 8z.
