Do I need to file a state tax return if I live in Tennessee?

I was speaking to a live agent on turbo tax and she said I did not need to file a tax return as we dont have income tax in TN. so now am not sure whtat to do...as the form is requesting one.

Are you asking about 2021? As of 2021 Tennessee has no personal income tax. However, it does have business taxes and tax on the practice of certain professions. If you are self-employed or have your own business, or engage in one the professions that is subject to Professional Privilege Tax, you may have to file a Tennessee tax return of some sort.

Exactly what "form" is asking for a Tennessee tax return? What exactly does it say?

I live in TN. You do not have to file a Tennessee State income tax when you are a resident of TN.

Tennessee does not tax individual's earned income, so you are not required to file a Tennessee tax return. Since the Hall Tax in Tennessee has ended. Starting with Tax Year 2021 Tennessee will be among the states with no individual income.
