The IRS generally takes 8 to 12 weeks to process an amended return (Form 1040-X), though it can take up to 16 weeks if it requires manual review. Even though you filed electronically, you may still experience an unexpected delay.

When to check: You can start checking the status 3 weeks after you filed.
Where to check: Use the Where’s My Amended Return? tool on IRS.gov.
What you need:

Social Security Number (SSN) or ITIN.
Date of Birth.
Zip Code.
