Question

Can anyone explain why my NYS refund is taking so long? Nobody has given me a clear answer yet and I would like to know where my money is. Accepted on 2/2

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.  Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.  We have been seeing enough complaints about NY to assume that NY is slow.

I have found that several NYS filers are having this issue if their return was filed between 1/28-2/3 -- mine was accepted on 2/2 and no refund yet. Not even a status update. I would love to know how TurboTax is handling this considering they're the reason for the additional delays due to their program not having completed an update timely. Now we're being directed to contact NYS IRS like it's our fault for filing early and TurboTax is wiping their hands like they don't have a cool -- claiming it's all NYS being slow. I will never be using TurboTax again. You should be notifying all of your NYS residential customers of this issue rather than ignoring or avoiding everyone in this situation. Get it together because you have absolutely lost SO MANY customers over this.

I thought I was the only one having this issue

TurboTax has no control over Federal or State processing of returns.

However, you can check your State status on this site:

I haven't received my refund from new york state at this point, and I'm not sure how long it will take. there is no communication from Turbotax at all but apparently Turbotax is the one who caused the issue.

Not really sure when I will get my money back, but the software provider at least should provide more insight regarding the reason for the delay and the estimate duration it would take to get this resolved.

please advise.

Yes, I am still having the same issue.

I filed the taxes on 2/20 and it has now been a month and I need this refund to pay for the NJ taxes that I owe money. I am desperate here!

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS/State releases your refund.

Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund:
When will I get my federal tax refund?
How do I track my state refund?
Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"?

Why do some refunds take longer than others?

What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

I guess you don’t understand the issue here, the reason for the delay is not because of IRS, it’s because TurboTax didn’t update the software. Please understand the whole picture and take the responsibility!

I filed on 2/9 and still- NOTHING! I was told by NYS on Friday, that nothing is wrong with my submission "things are just taking longer than usual this year" smh!
