Question

Turbotax Business 2025 is telling me I need form 8283

Form 8283 for 2025 not available until Feb 6 2026 so I am confused why Turbotax Business 2025 says I need to file it.  Form 8283 does not currently show up (even as "not ready") in the forms list.

I have NO charitable contributions this year, last year, or ever, through the business so this form should not be needed at all.

How can I get around this error/bug that is preventing me from filing my return?

Do I just need to wait until Turbotax Business 2025 adds this form to my return in February and then remove it from the forms list? It's a bit confusing that there are no errors found in my return and TurboTax Business appeared happy to file the return.

I am worried that even after removing 8283 once TurboTax adds it may not solve the problem and Turbotax might still tell me I need to file it when it does not apply (but Turbotax is preventing me from filling).

Please advise,

If you are sure you don't need this form, you can delete it.

If you are using:

  • TurboTax Online: see How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?
  • TurboTax Desktop:
    1. On the top right, there is a FORMS button.
    2. Click on FORMS.
    3. Locate the form you want to delete.
    4. Click on the form name.
    5. Below the form, bottom left, select DELETE FORM button.

Always use extreme caution when deleting information from your tax return.  There could be unintended consequences.

Thank you for your reply.

However, as I thought I mentioned, this form 8283 is NOT in my forms list so there is nothing to delete.

Yet, TurboTax Business 2025 says I need it -- even though I made NO charitable contributions.

Still not sure what to do to get around this...cannot file my return currently.

Thanks,

If Form 8283 is not appearing in the Forms list on the left-hand side of Forms Mode, the error is being triggered by a "ghost" entry on a supporting worksheet or a data field in the interview that has not yet generated the formal government form.

In TurboTax Business Desktop, you must clear the underlying worksheet that feeds into Form 8283 to resolve the filing block.

The IRS requires Form 8283 when noncash donations exceed $500. If you haven't made any, a $0 or a stray character on a worksheet is the likely culprit.

  1. While in Forms Mode, click the Open Form button at the top of the left-pane list.
  2. In the search box, type Charitable Contributions Worksheet and select it.
  3. Review the worksheet for any entries. Even a single character or a "0" in a field can trigger the requirement for Form 8283.
  4. If the worksheet contains any data, click Delete Form at the bottom of the screen. This will remove the worksheet and should stop the software from looking for Form 8283.

I called support on this and they were no help.

Same scenario

Wants me to do an 8283 even though i have no charitable contributions, I click continue

Takes me to the next screen where it says I need a 8822B even though the responsible party has not changed

click continue

wants me to print the form , I click print and nothing happens

click continue

tells me to sign the 8822 form but now it shows the 8453 and tells me to sign on the signature line

click continue

ask me to attach the the 8283

I did it just for fun with a blank form

I called support and they told me that an L2 said the 8453 pe was not a supported form which I found hilarious.

This is a HUGE bug in the program that is causing headaches for many people

I made them give me a case number - 1770348592655

Thanks for your response. I knew I wasn’t crazy! I actually reloaded the picture for my 8822 when it asked for the 8283 pic and tried to file. Figured I’d let the IRS sort it out. But it came back that my Georgia isn’t ready to accept a TT business return yet so I’m still waiting. I’ve given up on TT being able to resolve this.

I am having the same issues as Oliver using TurboTax Business 2025.  I have no charitable contributions and no Form 8283.  Before letting me E-file it is requiring I sign Form 8283 but populates Form 8822-B on the print screen.  This post is over a month old and still no solution!? What gives TT?

I am also having same problem as Oliver and ShiftTax.  We have no Charitable Contributions in this S-Corp, but it is requiring me to attach a signed Form 8283 from an appraiser when attempting to E-file.  As you continue on, it then is forcing me to print a form 8822-B Change of Address form.  Neither of these items are applicable.   I did not see where a solution was shown for either Oliver or ShiftTax.  Please let us know how to resolve this glitch in TurboTax.  All updates are installed - it shows "Your software is up to date."   Thank you.

Pretty sure they've yet to fix this. I posted in another thread, and was asked to send my exact file (automatically deidentified by them) so they could test it. That was 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing since, except two weeks ago they said they needed my state also -- which I promptly sent.

Still no solution.
