But I don't have a Credit Karma account and I do not want my tax return refund being direct deposited to them.

I didn't even enter it on my tax return.

If you elected Refund Advance, you would have to set up a Credit Karma Money Spend (MVB Bank) account to obtain this.  For more information, please see our Help Article under Additional Refund Advance Requirements.  If you have any additional concerns, reach out directly to Credit Karma on their Contact Us page.

You may have done so inadvertently and unfortunately you are unable to change it after filing unless your return gets rejected. Further details can be found here.

BRUH.. I got the run around trying to figure this out!! When you choose to have Turbo Tax pay the fees with your return, they put Credit Karmas banking information on your federal return not your personal banking info, WILD. What happens is the IRS releases the funds to their third-party bank which is TGP. TGP pays out turbo tax the fees their owed and your remaining funds go to Credit Karmas bank. Side Note: you can go to TGP website create an account and see when this process is completed. It will show on the TGP website that the money was deposited. At this time you need to call Credit Karma.. they have no phone number listed so here it is [phone number removed]. Once you speak with a team member, they will verify your information and email within 24hrs. Once you complete the email verification they will send you a check in the mail for your remaining funds, this will take 7-10 business days. Hope this helps!!!

Firstly...

Dear TurboTax, screw you for this scammy type behavior. This is ridiculous! This was not made clear and has cost me hours of my valuable time. I will not reuse this service, which I've faithfully used since 2019, again.

Dear Reader,

I wanted to contribute to this post because it was extremely helpful, and I wanted to share what I learned. Everything listed by OP is true. If you are reading this, somewhere in your return you unknowingly clicked the wrong thing.

Here's what I did:

- Check your email for an email from CreditKarma.

- Copy the email address that they sent the email to, regarding your return.

- Go to CreditKarma.com, use the email address from the email to login. (It may prompt you to "create an account" however when you enter your email address it should say there's already an account linked to that address - simply follow through.)

- You should see your return there and you can transfer funds directly from that account.

- You are given the option to transfer funds immediately (for a fee), or you can transfer the funds for free in 2-3 days.

* I would encourage you not to pay them a cent to transfer the money "instantly," as this is rewarding their scummy behavior.
