Schedule 8812 - Refundable Child Tax Credit - Line 10 calculated to 0?

Already filed my return but got a letter from the IRS saying that my line 10 was calculated incorrectly. And sure enough, it is $0 instead of subtract line 9 and line 3 (both are positive values that don't equal out).

First I wanted to verify whether if the calculation was wrong (I went through the Turbox Tax wizard so I'm pretty sure I didn't manually calculate this or manually override). And if I do need to adjust it, do I can manually do it through the TurboTax (Premier) program and resubmit the filing? (eFiled)

The IRS should adjust the child tax credit and give you the correct refund. If the IRS fails to give you the child tax credit, then you will need to amend your return to claim the correct amount. You should not e-file an amended return after the original return is completely finished- all payments have cleared the banks, E-filing will shorten the refund delay. Please:

I guess my question is how I would go about making the corrections through Turbotax? I see that there is an option for Override Ctrl-D, but is it possible that the software is calculating it (line 10) correctly, or is it a calculation bug in the software? I'm just surprised that I would need to manually override a calculation on the form, unless its a known problem.

I just did the override changes and noticed that I'm suppose to get more money back from the government. I was wondering if the calculations would be pushed forward and the "Federal Refund" total at the top changed.

The interesting thing is that the letter from the IRS indicated that I owed them more money (a lot more actually) because of a calculation error. I don't expect TurboTax to know why the IRS would ask me to send them more money when they actually owed me more money but I thought I'd pass this bit along to the community. The letter just send, mail $xxxx amount and they didn't even show how they came up with that number.

I never filed an amendment before but hopefully it'll be straightforward using the software. Wish me luck in getting my money back...!
