Turbo Tax refuses control number and will not allow efile

I completed my daughter's tax return with Turbo Deluxe. Turbo says that her W-2, box D, control number is not correct because it is only one digit. They refuse to complete the efile. We contacted the accounting firm who prepares tax documents for her employer and they say they have never heard of such a thing. They say the number is valid. What to do?

Remove the number in box D. If you still get an error delete the W-2 and enter the W-2 manually, the error will have been removed.

I entered the W-2 information manually in the first place. Do you mean to remove the control number from the Turbo Tax form and see if it will submit without a control number at all?

Yes, leave box D blank (empty). The control number is not needed to e-file the tax return with the W-2 tax data.
