Question

I have a 1099-MISC with information in box 6 only. Turbo Tax wants me to pick a business, I am not self-employed and I do not own a business

I have information in Box 6 of a 1099-MISC. After I enter the information, TurboTax wants me to select and enter a business, I am not self-employed, and I do not own a business. How am I supposed to enter this when I don't own a business but it keeps asking me for one.

Enter information from Form 1099-MISC Box 6 (Medical Payments) in TurboTax online program, go to:

Open your return (if not already open)
Enter "1099misc" in the Search box.
Click on "jump to 1099misc" link.
On "Let's get the info from your 1099-MISC" screen, under Box 3, check "My form has other info in boxes 1-18."
Enter information in Box 6 (Medical Payments). Please see image below.

Yes I did that, but now it’s asking me to input a business for a schedule C which I don’t have.

This is taxable income but it is not self-employment income to be reported on Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business.

Report the income as Other Income on Schedule 1 line 8z and line 8 on IRS Form 1040. Follow these steps:

Down the left side of the screen, click on Tax Home.
Click on the down arrow to the right of Review.
Click on the blue band labeled Review.
Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
Click on Wages & Income.
Scroll down to Less Common Income. Click down arrow to the right.
Click to the right of Miscellaneous income….
Click to the right of Other reportable income.
At the screen Other Taxable Income enter ‘medical payment’.
