Can I purchase the usual turbotax with CD to do 2024 taxes?

I have always transferred my prior year tax data (return) to the current tax return in preparing my personal tax return. What has changed for 2024, is the CD included in COSTCO purchases for 2024?

Sorry no more CDs.  You can still buy the Desktop program but you only get the License Code and have to download the program.  The Download program is EXACTLY the same Desktop program as the CD.  You buy it the same way directly from Turbo Tax or in stores like Costco or Amazon.   When you installed the CD you still had to go online to update it.   It's only the method you use to install it.

I'm on Windows 10.  This is how mine went.
1/3/25 Bought Home&Business from Costco online. So I don’t know how it works if you buy the card in the store.  20 min later got email with License Code and download link. Clicked on Download link. It took me directly to Turbo Tax to download. Had to pick my product then select Win or Mac. Program downloaded.

Had to go to my Downloads folder. Clicked on downloaded .exe file. It started but stopped saying I needed Microsoft Visual C++ with an install button. I clicked on it and it installed the MS Visual C ++. Then it continued to install Turbo Tax.

Checked on the License Agreement. Clicked on Install. Minute later it was done and launched.

Sign in to Intuit Account, had to get email code to enter.
Got License Code screen. Went and copied 16 digit code from email and pasted it into code box.
    Got into program.

First thing I did was check for updates. Then I always go up to Online-Updater Preferences and check Ask me before getting updates.

In prior years the download version of TurboTax was NOT the same as the CD version. I can't remember the specific difference but I remember regretting that I didn't buy the CD. I believe it had something to do with State filing

The download is exactly the same as the CD.  It just the method you use to install it.  Are you confusing the Download with the Online version?   The Online version is different.   Or you might have bought the Desktop Deluxe program that doesn’t come with a free state program download.   Deluxe comes 2 ways, Deluxe with a free state program and Deluxe without state for states that don’t have a income tax.

I always buy my program at Costco.  The last 3 years I have bought the download from Costco.  It is definitely the same as the CD.

Oh, You can now buy an install CD for $10 after you buy a License Code for the version you want.

    TurboTax® Desktop 2024-2025 | Tax Software Download

But since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).  And the download will always be up to date with all the updates.

Until Intuit decides to pull them down. I've got over twenty years worth of TT CD's, and all of them still work up to the point where Intuit imposed copy-protection and then decommissioned the copy-protection validation servers.

Good to know that I can get a CD for $10 with the download code.

@194519502009 Didn't you see my 2 posts above?  You can buy an install CD for 2024 for $10 after you buy the download and a License Code

Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.

@Truyen1372   You can still install Turbo Tax on 5 computers you own.  You just have to log in to your account and download it to the other computer.  And the license has always been….you can install it on 5 computers YOU OWN. You are not suppose to share it. This year they are enforcing it.
