How much does intuit TurboTax charge for state taxes 2024 from this site?

If you are using the TurboTax online editions, the state program is currently an additional $34 when using the Deluxe or Premium edition (Price increase on March 1). There is not e-file fee for either a federal or state tax return when using the online editions.

Hi.....I'm doing my daughter's tax return using Turbo Tax online. She made $585 in income and had $4 in fed tax w/h and $12 in NY state tax w/h. I believe there is no processing fee to do the fed. But what about the state? Is there a $39 fee to process the state? If so, then it wouldn't make any sense to file these returns. Thanks

If you are using the Free Edition for your daughter's return there is no fee for the federal or state return.

That depends on what version of the online software you use for the federal return. You cannot prepare a "stand alone" state return using TurboTax. Information flows from the federal return to the state forms. The fees for the state returns vary according to whether you are using the "do-it-yourself" software at $39 per state return or versions of the "Live" software that includes help from a tax expert at $49 per state return. The fees go up March 1.

If you buy the Desktop program Deluxe or higher you get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited returns. Then each state return is free to print and mail or $20/25 to efile.
