I paid to file electronically but then had to file by mail. is the amount paid just for using turbo tax services or just for the online filing?

If you used the Online version the fees are to prepare the returns whether you efile or print and mail. If you used the Desktop program and paid the separate state efile fee you can ask for that back.

There are no e-file fees when using the TurboTax online editions, federal or state. The TurboTax account fees are for the use of the software to assist in completing a tax return. The account fees are the same whether the tax return is e-filed or printed for mailing.
