Question

I didn't receive a 1099 INT form for a savings account. Should I use my Dec. 2023 bank statement which reflects interest earned YTD?

Yes, if you didn't receive a 1099-INT from your bank, you can post it to the your Year To Date statement.

To post investments:

  1. Sign into TurboTax
  2. Select Work on other (Income/Deductions)
  3. There is a Sidebar to the left
  4. Under Federal
  5. Select Wages & Income
  6. In the main body, scroll down to Investments and Savings (1099-B, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-K, Crypto) - Select it
  7. Depending on what you've already posted, you may see different screens
  8. If you've already entered some transactions you can Add Investments
    1. You may see Let's import your tax info
    2. Or you can choose  [Enter a different way]  I suggest you use this
  9. You will se a panel of 5 boxes
  10. Select the appropriate box - Continue
  11. Follow the interview.

Your bank isn't required to send a 1099-INT if your interest is under $10.

And I would log into your bank account and see if there is a 1099INT tax statement you can print out.  Some places are not sending them and you have to get it online.  Was your interest less than $10?
