Where is the option to file tax returns for previous years?

TurboTax only supports prior tax years 2022, 2021 and 2020. Do you need to file these tax years?

There is no need to file a 2010 tax return if you did not have any income in 2010.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I do need to do 2010. Why do you say I do not need to file it?

No, the online program is for the current tax year only. You can purchase prior tax programs, but only for the last few years.

At any given time, there is a current year (2023) and three open years (2020, 2021 and 2022). Prior years are closed years.

A closed year is a year that is no longer subject to audit, assuming the original return was filed on time and there is no criminal activity.

You can't amend a closed year and get a refund. If you really need to file a 2010 tax return, you can seek a tax professional in your community.

It is too late to file a 2010 tax return to claim a tax refund. However, that does not mean that you do not need to file it if you were required to file the return based on your 2010 income. Just be aware that you will not receive a refund by filing it.
