Question

EFile As Guest Or Sign In

Turbotax Premier Desktop version.

Stepping through Efiling federal and state tax returns when the screen comes up:

Sign In or File As Guest

Not well explained, I chose file as guest as simplest and least invasive.

The Privacy Statement is eight pages long. It's unlikely anyone could pass a quiz on what it says.

What did I lose by not signing in?

By creating an account you will have access to see your prior year's returns. You never know when you will need a copy and you can avoid having to request a copy from the IRS. You will have access to My Doc's, and your prior year's tax information will transfer over to the current year just to name some benefits of having an account.

You can see these Turbo Tax help articles for more information.

    Thankyou for your quick reply...

Perhaps you could add a "Learn More" on the efiling screen so users don't struggle with which method to use.

I suggest using the guest method is adequate. The less information to be hacked the better. I have four backups of the .tax file and the PDF file plus paper files if needed.
