There is no code for box 12 so what do i do

If your W-2 has an amount in Box 12 but no code you will need to contact your employer and tell them that Box 12 does not have a code when it has a dollar amount. They will need to issue a corrected W-2 either to remove the amount or include a code for the amount. You should wait for an answer from your employer before filing your return.

Don't enter anything into TurboTax if there are no amounts on your W-2 for Boxes 12 a, b, c, and d.

The W-2 layout includes four boxes (12a, 12b, 12c and 12d) so employers can enter up to four W-2 codes and amounts. Some people have nothing in Box 12. Other people have four boxes filled in.

If your Box 12 is blank, move on to the next section.
