Can I claim my girlfriend as a dependent since we live together and I'm the head of household

She might be your dependent, but she wont qualify you for Head of Household filing status...do you have a child that lives with you?

You may be able to claim your girlfriend as a dependent if she meets the following requirements for "qualifying relative":

  1. Not a qualifying child – She is not your qualifying child.
  2. Member of household or relationship test – She must live with you all year as a member of your household.
  3. Gross income test – Your girlfriend’s gross income for the year must be less than $4,050.  Gross income is all income in the form of money, property, and services that isn't exempt from tax.
  4. Support test - To meet this test, you generally must provide more than half of your girlfriend’s total support during the calendar year.  You figure whether you have provided more than half of her total support by comparing the amount you contributed to her support with the entire amount of support she received from all sources. This includes support she provided from her own funds.
