No.  Gifts are not taxable income.  If the gift was significant (greater than $12,000) then the person that gave the gift might need to file a gift tax return, but there is nothing for the recipient of the gift to report or file.  Minnesota did had a  gift tax; however, the short-lived gift tax in Minnesota, which applied to gifts made after June 30, 2013, was assessed at a flat 10% rate on total lifetime gifts over $1 million. The repeal is retroactive to then so donors who made gifts do not have to file a gift tax return (due April 15, 2014), and refunds will be due to anyone who already filed a return and paid.
