Solved

To pay my Indiana state taxes online via a credit card, it wants either a liability number or a case number. Where do I find that?

You will not have one. You are trying to make a bill payment for corporate or individual tax payments of one or more liabilities or cases. This would be a payment on an open case. To pay your state tax due on your tax return, then you need to choose the individual income tax payment. Please click the Indiana link below and follow the instructions below to make your payment. Also see my (screenshots) below as a reference.

http://www.in.gov/dor/4340.htm

1. Click the get started tab just under

Individual income tax payment: Pay the amount of tax due as a result of filing an Indiana individual income tax return.

2. On the next screen, select

Please make your 2016 Individual Tax Payment here: Tax Return Payment (IT-40) and click next.

You are now in the right spot to pay your state tax balance.
