Filing married jointly, they ask my occupation. did not work in 2017 sick with a stroke. spouse worked . what do i put for occupation.

It does not matter what you enter for occupation - the IRS just uses this for statistical analysis.

You can enter "unemployed" or "retired" or anything you like.
