How should report backdoor Roth IRA on TurboTax
Hi, I have been using turboTax for years. I can not be sure about a few questions this year. I did backdoor Roth IRA, basically I contribute $7000 to my traditional IRA and when the money is cleared by the institute, I moved all directly to Roth IRA in the same institute. What confuses me is I entered some questions regarding this during income section and in deduction section, it asked again. And especially, these few questions confused me?
1 "Did you recharacterize any of the traditional IRA contributions for 2025 over to a Roth IRA contribution?"
-- Is what I did a recharacterization or conversion. I remember it should be conversion, right?
2 "Did you make any nondeductible IRA contributions to your traditional IRA from 2024 or prior years?"
Note: Nondeductible contributions are tracked on Form 8606 in your prior year returns.
-- I do have Form 8606 from previous year. I guess these was due to the income generated during the time the money in traditional IRA before moved to Roth IRA, is it? Should I answer yes to this question?
3 "Did you convert a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA before 2025?"
-- I think I should answer "yes", right?
