Question

TurboTax Deluxe Federal-Only no longer offered in-store AT ALL??

It seems TurboTax Deluxe Federal-Only desktop is not available in-store.  Only Deluxe with state.  Is this yet another shortcoming of Intuit's product strategy for 2025, or is the Federal-Only version of Deluxe simply late getting to stores??

Fewer retail stores are selling desktop download software.  Amazon and Costco are selling federal without state.

    2025 TURBOTAX

DOWNLOAD (This requires a full PC or Mac—-cannot be used on a mobile device)

You can also purchase the desktop download from various retailers such as Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Sam’s Club, etc. etc. etc.

This link Where can I obtain authentic TurboTax software? has a list of authorized TurboTax resellers.

When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return.  You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return.

What I said in the original post stands:  It seems Federal-only Deluxe is not available in-store anywhere at the moment.

Furthermore, there is only ONE store (Staples) that does not require creating an account or having a membership to purchase TurboTax products.  And currently even that ONE store isn't carrying Deluxe Federal Only in-store.

No customer should be required to create an account with a store, or sign up for a membership, simply to buy a product!  All that does is expand the footprint of customer data & payment info and put their information at risk for misuse or worse. WHY are the TurboTax products not offered in-store at Walmart, Target, Office Depot/Max and other stores like it always had been prior to 2024!?  H&R Block and other products continue to be offered in-store, and some still support Windows 10 as well!

Does anybody know if the current lack of Deluxe Federal Only in-store product is an intentional decision by Intuit, or is it in the pipeline on the way to stores??
