There is no physical signature on an e-filed tax return.  You "sign" electronically by entering your previous year AGI.   If you are ever asked for a "signed" copy by a lender, a college, etc. you print the return and use a pen to sign it to keep them happy.

If you filed by mail and neglected to sign the paper return, the IRS is very likely to send it back to you with a request for you to use a pen and sign it and mail it back to them.
