Question

Why Did My State Tax Refund Drop to $0 Due While the Federal Refund Stayed the Same?

I recently reviewed my TaxReturn.pdf, and it showed that I was supposed to receive a state tax refund of over 200. However, when I checked my updated tax status, my state tax refund is now showing as 0 due, while my federal tax refund remains unchanged.

What Should I Do?

Did you accidentally say to apply your refund to next year as an estimated payment?  Check your state return and see what happened to your refund.  Have you filed it yet?  Where are you checking the updated tax status?  If it is on the State's website they may have changed your return.  Then they will mail you a letter explaining why.

Where should I check to answer your questions? I see around 300 dollars of Federal Tax Return and 0 due for State Return on TurboTax Tax Home.

Both of these tax returns are on "Ready to mail" status. They are not e-filed.

I am no longer in USA and I'm trying to get my tax back if it helps.

Should I amend my return?

No you don't need to amend since it  hasn't been filed unless you mailed it.

Download a new copy of your return.  Save the PDF.  You may have to click on Add a State to let you back into your return.

Then you can compare it to the pdf return you already  have.  You might want to change the name of the pdf you have so the new copy doesn't overwrite it.
