received two small payments from a former home lender (we haven't owned the house for several years) without a 1099 and can't seem to enter the income without having 1099 for information requested

If you did not receive a 1099-misc or W-2, then you can report this as miscellaneous income.

Select Federal Taxes, Wages & Income, I'll Choose What to Work On

Scroll to Less Common Income, and select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C

Select Other Income not already reported on For W-2 or for 1099

Select Yes

Continue until you see Any Other Earned Income, and select yes, now on the next screen select other

Complete the information

Hi there, I followed these tips yet I am wondering if I can do this while listing item deductions on there, would I not be able to using this method?

The tips that are given by Patrice were for entering earned income not reported on a 1099 or W-2.  If you have other income that is not earned income, then under Miscellaneous Income, it can be reported under Other reportable income if it doesn't fit any of the other categories under Miscellaneous income.

Adding income there will not affect the ability to claim itemized deductions in the Deductions & Credits section
