I can't change the payer name which has too many characters in Form PA-40, Gross Compensation Worksheet. TurboTax shows that name in red but doesn't allow me to change it

For whichever form is involved...you need to navigate back to the Federal section, where the form was entered. Then EDIT that actual form in the Federal section to shorten the name of the payer.

Delete the form and enter it manually using a shorter payer name.

To delete a form In TurboTax Online, here's the general procedure for viewing a list of all the forms in your return and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

Sign in to TurboTax and open your return by selecting Continue or Pick up where you left off
In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools
In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form
Select Delete next to the form, schedule, and worksheet in the list and follow the instructions

To type in a form:

When you are in the section of TurboTax to enter a form by importin the form
Continue until you see Change how I enter my form
Choose Type if in myself
1. Follow the instructions, and use fewer characters for the name (this occurs with the Pennsylvania return infrequently)

Honestly, this is an utterly needless hassle for users that Intuit should fix.

And although this calls me a "new member" I've been using TurboTax for years. It's just in filing a new state that I've encountered this glitch and it is mighty annoying.
