Did not make enough to recieve a 1099. Not a business, just a side gig. Not sure whether to use Schedule C or something else?

Something else.  Renting out your travel trailer would be considered rental income.  You do not need a 1099 to report the amount you received.  You will just enter the amount you received by using your records. To enter your rent received and expenses for your travel trailer on Schedule E click the following:

  • Federal
  • Income and Expenses
  • Show more next to Rentals, Royalties and Farm
  • Start next to Rental Properties and Royalties

All rental income/expenses is reported on SCH E. That is used for reporting rental income/expenses of just about anything. Not just real estate.

@amquino

Do not report this income on Schedule E. Schedule E is used to report rental income and expenses from rental real estate and royalties. Your RV is personal property, not real estate.

See https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1040se

Personal property.

Do not use Schedule E to report income and expenses from the rental of personal property, such as equipment or vehicles. Instead, use Schedule C if you are in the business of renting personal property. You are in the business of renting personal property if the primary purpose for renting the property is income or profit and you are involved in the rental activity with continuity and regularity.

If your rental of personal property is not a business, see the instructions for Schedule 1 (Form 1040), lines 8k and 24b, to find out how to report the income and expenses.
