Where do I add all of Savannah's college expenses... computer, dorm supplies

Expenses for school supplies needed for her classes would be entered in

Deductions & Credits
Education
Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T) START or UPDATE

Continue to the screen that says "Time to enter your education expenses" and enter books and supplies (including the computer if it was required) in the "Optional books and materials from the school"

This would NOT include Room and Board or "Dorm Supplies" if they are not required for her classes. Those types of expenses do not count towards an education credit.

If you have a 1099-Q for those types of expenses (such as room and board) and the distribution reported on the 1099-Q was used for those expenses, don't enter the 1099-Q since a distribution used to pay those expenses is not taxable.
