If you get a standard deduction do you not get your student loan interest back - or do you never get the whole amount back?
Student loan interest is not deducted on a schedule A.
It is an adjustment and can lower your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI).
You can claim the standard deduction and also your student loan interest deduction.
The deduction is subtracted from income, so it can lower your tax liability, but it is not refundable.
It will not show up as a refund.
