Can I take a deduction for college tuition that I have paid for my daughter who is claimed as a dependent on her mother's tax return?

No, generally, in order to claim the tuition and fees deduction for qualified education expenses for a dependent, you must:

  1. Have paid the expenses, and

  2. Claim the student as a dependent.

No.  But, the mother can count what you paid, in calculating her own education credit or deduction
