Hi,

How would I answer the following question: (don't remember seeing this question before)

Traditional IRAs

Did you have any nondeductible IRA contributions to your traditional IRA from 2024 or prior years?

Nondeductible contributions are tracked on Form 8606 in prior years returns.

Yes

No

I been contributing $100 a month ($1200 a year) to my traditional IRA and enter this in contribution screen in TT for years and receive form 8606 and had $1200 is listed in lines 1,2 and 14 in the form (unless I been doing it wrong all these years) Please help and if I did it wrong how would I fix it for all those years. I'm using windows desktop version.

It does sound like you have been making non-deductible contributions to your traditional IRA.

You can check what's posted to your current tax return, and check copies of your past years.

    If your in Turbotax Desktop

    1. Go to FORM's mode
    2. Select you 1040 tax return
    3. Look at the lines
      1. 4a (IRA Contributions and
      2. 4b (Taxable Amount)

If you're in the Online version

    1. On the left menu, scroll down to Tax Tools.
    2. If necessary, click the side arrow and select Tools.
    3. A box will appear in the middle of the screen.
    4. Select View Tax Summary.
    5. A tax summary will appear.
    6. On the left side menu bar, select Preview My 1040.
    7. This will bring up a copy of your 1040 Tax return.
      1. Look at the lines
        1. 4a (IRA Contributions and
        2. 4b (Taxable Amount)
