When checking the federal return an error is flagged related to the lump sum SSA benefit my wife received last year. In examining the "Earlier Year Lump Sum Social Security Worksheet" I see that the my social security benefit has not been entered on line B causing the taxable social security amount to be flagged as an error. How do I get the correct value plugged in there?

To correct the error with the lump sum Social Security benefit, review your entries in TurboTax's Social Security section.

Follow these steps carefully:
1. Confirm your 2025 benefits are listed on the initial Social Security page.
2. On the lump-sum payment summary screen, ensure the 2024 lump sum amount from your 2025 SSA-1099 is entered correctly.
3. When editing the lump sum, check that the payment year is set to 2024.
4. Enter the specific lump sum amount received in 2024.
5. On the next screen, verify that the Box 5 amount for 2024 is correct and not mistakenly taken from your 2025 form.

Entering these prior year details correctly will resolve the error and update the taxable Social Security amount accordingly.
