I hear you as I had to upgrade to windows 11 reluctantly as I only use desktop.
any chance you are a high income earner, subject to AMT or married filing separately? There may be a chance that you are better off taking the standard deduction.
-first thing to check is FORMS mode (Note: TurboTax Online does not have a "Forms Mode" like the Desktop version; you must use the print/preview functionality to see specific forms), look at your Info Worksheet, Part VI-Additional Information for Your Federal Return, see if it had automatically checked the box to take the Standard Deduction even if it is less than Itemized Deductions.
-If you are subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), certain deductions like state and local taxes are disallowed entirely, which can drastically reduce your total benefit
-taxpayers in the top 37% tax bracket will see their total itemized deductions reduced. This "haircut" is generally calculated as 2/37 of the lesser of total deductions or income above the threshold
-Your taxable income is so low that itemizing has no benefit.
-Your tax credits already reducing your taxes so no benefit from itemizing
- If Married Filing SEPARATELY your itemized deductions are limited primarily because both spouses must either both itemize or both take the standard deduction. Key limitations include capping the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap to 50% per spouse, splitting joint expenses, and disqualifying many tax credits (may disqualify you from claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), adoption credits, education credits, and often the Child and Dependent Care Credit).
-make sure you went through the mortgage interest section thoroughly as many skip answering questions that then disallow or limit the mortgage interest expense
If you want to force itemization, go to FEDERAL>DEDUCTIONS AND CREDITS select to CHANGE MY DEDUCTION
Go to FORMS mode and review the Schedule A to see all limitations of your itemized deductions and caps on them. Note: TurboTax Online does not have a "Forms Mode" like the Desktop version; you must use the print/preview functionality to see specific forms.
