I donated cloth twice (on different dates) to the same charity organization about $200 each. Do I need a written acknowledgment as it totals to $400? Or does $250 limit counts against each separate donation in order to require written acknowledgment?

According to the IRS instructions for Schedule A Itemized Deductions, “In figuring whether a gift is $250 or more, don’t combine separate donations.”  Therefore, a written acknowledgment is not required.
