Form 8911 for EV plug installation

I purchased an EV vehicle in 2021 and installed an EV plug for it. I believe the credit was extended to 2021 but when I enter the information, it says that it was done in 2020. Is the software not updated? How can I input it in Turbotax. Will it get updated?

"The alternative fuel vehicle refueling property credit expired for refueling property placed in service after 2021. Do not report refueling property placed in service after 2021 on Form 8911 unless the credit is extended."

The statement you quoted means that if the charging station was installed during 2021, the credit still applies. If it is installed after 2021 (in 2022 for example), the credit must be extended in order to claim it.

Be sure that you have the most recent software update if you are using one of the TurboTax CD/downloaded versions of the program.

Go to Online > Check for Updates on the top line menu area.

The versions of TurboTax Online are automatically updated.
