When entering the Energy-Efficient Vehicles Form 8936 information, it states that my income may not qualify for the credit and then charges me for the credit that was transferred to the dealer at the time of purchase. It is my understanding the 2023 filing status and income amounts should be looked at as well, correct?

No, your 2023 filing status and income amounts are not considered when trying to claim the energy-efficient vehicle credit for 2025.  The 2025 credit is based on your 2025 income and filing status or your 2024 income and filing status.  Only one year prior to the current year can be considered.
