Why am I getting a $2,000 credit for one child and only $500 for the other?

    Is one of your dependents over the age of 16?   You lose the child tax credit in the tax year that the child turns 17.

    No, one is 2 and one is 3 months.

    @Mulready_1

    When you go through the screens in My Info make sure to say your child lived with you the WHOLE year.  You are supposed to say that for a newborn,   When it asks the oddly worded question about whether your child paid for over half their own support say NO.
